Description
Oak bench, rectangular top, on two cruciform supports
Comments
College Hall, the original boys’ dining hall, was restored and refurbished between 1856 and 1858. Architect Henry Woodyer (1816–1896), a disciple of A.W.N. Pugin, led the project, producing designs in a neo-Gothic style, including new furniture for the Hall. However, this bench is a copy, made in the 20th century by college carpenters from reclaimed wood, to match Woodyer’s original benches.
This bench related to a set of five similar benches, designed by the architect Henry Woodyer.
